Hello, Dear Readers, I hope you all have had a good week! I had a rather busy one, since I had some big work projects occupying quite a bit of my time, but I’m glad to be here at the weekend now.

I mentioned before that my mom’s geese have been laying eggs. They’ve got 16 eggs currently and are sharing (not very well, I might add) a nest, so I guess we’ll find out soon whether we get any goslings or not! One of the first eggs was rejected, so we brought it in and look how much larger it is than the chicken eggs.

The chickens have also been laying so many eggs lately; we’ve currently got 7 dozen, with more added each day. We’ve got to start making more omelettes and merengues, I think. We are going to let one of our hens sit on a nest (once the weather is more consistently warm) and hatch out some chicks like we did last year. That will be lots of fun!

Speaking of eggs, here are the (fake) eggs that I decorated my wreath with, for Easter. I use this same branchy wreath for each season, switching out the decorations with berries or pinecones or acorns depending on the season. It works quite well, because then I don’t have to store bulky out-of-season wreaths, and can just store the stems. Do you like to decorate for each season?

In other news, I did a bit of candle making this week. I saved all of the bits of leftover beeswax from my other candles and then melted and poured them into this teacup. I got the idea of using a mismatched teacup years ago, from a Christmas decorating book, and finally tried it a few months ago. It worked quite well, so I decided to make another one this week for my friend. After a bit of a disaster, where I didn’t melt enough wax and then accidentally pulled out the wick before it was cool, it eventually turned out ok! Have you ever tried candle making?

My sister got me this Lavender Early Grey tea blend a couple of weeks ago, and I’ve been enjoying it as a treat. OK, I’ve been drinking it almost every day… but I just want to make my everyday a bit more special I guess! I usually drink my tea plain, but this one is nice with a little bit of sugar and milk.

On the subject of fancy teacup candles, and special blends of tea, I also recently discovered another YouTube channel that I’ve been enjoying. It’s called Inspired By Nikki, and she covers so much about elegant and feminine lifestyle; from wardrobe to decorating and home. If you want to get a bit more elegance into your everyday, then I think you’ll like her channel!

Well, that’s all I have to share this week. I hope you are doing well, and hopefully enjoying warm Spring weather and sunshine too!

Happy Easter

I’ve had the words to this hymn, My Worth is Not in What I Own, in my mind lately, and have been reflecting upon them as we come up to Easter this weekend.

Two wonders here that I confess
My worth and my unworthiness
My value fixed, my ransom paid
At the cross
And I rejoice in my redeemer
Greatest treasure
Wellspring of my soul
I will trust in him, no other
My soul is satisfied in him alone

Happy Easter, dear Readers. ❤︎ May you each have a wonderful holiday, as we celebrate the death and resurrection of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!

tea in a floral china cup on a lace tablecloth

Happy first day of Spring everyone! We had such a lovely warm day here, it really did feel like Spring. My sister and I went for a walk, one of my mom’s geese laid her first egg (maybe we’ll get goslings this year), and we had a little spring tea party today.

I made lemon squares, chose out three of my favourite tea cups and then my mom and my sister and I enjoyed a nice cup of tea and a visit. It was so lovely that I think we are going to make a habit of it. Sometimes life can get so busy that you can forget to stop and take a moment to enjoy the nice things in life. Afternoon Tea is one of those habits for me that has fallen by the wayside, as I usually just grab a cup of tea to sip while I’m working on something else (I’m drinking a cup while I type this), but there is something nice about taking a purposeful break, isn’t there?

So, what else did I do this week? I listed a few more clothes, from my closet clear out, in my Poshmark shop, and also spent a few days sewing. I altered a circle skirt that I didn’t love the fit of into a wrap skirt- just in time for warmer weather!

I also did a bit of crafting for Easter, since that is only two weeks away! And finally my mom’s Christmas cactus is blooming again…maybe it thinks it’s an Easter cactus?

Did you do anything fun this week, dear Reader? And how was your first day of Spring?

bouquet of orange and yellow tulips

Happy Saturday everyone! It’s been so warm and sunny this week, and I’ve been enjoying having the windows open and going for walks. I didn’t do very much this week, just work and boring things like that, but it was not a bad week.

My mom bought a bunch of tulips last week, and they have added a lovely spot of cheer to the house.

I also recently discovered a new blog and Youtube channel, “The Daily Connoisseur” and it has been an absolute delight to watch! (Though I’ve might have spent a bit too much time watching this week…) She focuses on elegant homemaking and lifestyle, which is just the sort of thing I like.

agatha christie novel and a cup of tea

I also like a good murder though, so not sure where that leaves me…doesn’t an Agatha Christie go so well with a cup of tea though?

In other news, Brittani from Untitled Thoughts shared her wedding photos a couple of weeks ago. She had shared a lot of behind the scenes photos of sewing her dress as well as their low waste plans for the wedding last fall, so it was exciting to finally see the big reveal! Her wedding looked lovely, and is just the sort of thing I would choose to do if I was getting married.

Well, that’s all I have to share for this week. I hope you have a lovely weekend!

a heart garland made of book pages draped across a window with lace curtains and a hanging plant

Hello and happy Valentine’s weekend everyone! I didn’t do a dedicated Valentine’s post this year, but I thought I would still share the cards I made and a tiny bit of festive decor…

I didn’t do anything very exciting this week and was starting to feel just a bit housebound, since the temperatures plummeted this week. It was deceptively sunny outside; but the thermometer was actually at -38 Celsius!!!

There were also so many beret and hat themed posts that I saw this week- including several perfect for Valentine’s Day! If you’ve decided you want to follow my tutorial for making a beret out of an old sweater, here are some great free tutorials.

Brittani of Untitled Thoughts shared a tutorial for an embroidered beret. How cute would it be to embroider it with wool yarn?

And then Charlotte of Tuppence Ha’Penny shared how she made a heart shaped beret last year- so cute!

And if a beret isn’t really your thing, she’s also just released a tutorial for a heart shaped pillbox hat perfect for Valentine’s Day!

And finally, Kristina of The Eyre Effect just posted a Galentine’s outfit with a heart shaped beret (and a cute vintage cape!) in case you are looking for inspiration on how to style your new beret.

I think I’m going to spend my weekend crafting and creating…and maybe baking some sort of heart themed treat for Valentine’s Day tomorrow. Do you have any Valentine plans? Or other plans for this weekend? Do you think you’ll try making one of these hats?
