Cozy Fall Decorating
We are well and truly into Fall now, so it’s time I decorated for this cozy season, especially since Thanksgiving is on Monday. I don’t do too much thematic decorating for this season, but prefer to use seasonal arrangements and natural elements that can be left up for a while and easily transition into the cold and snowy month of November without looking too out of place before Christmas.
My #1 tip for using faux branches is to mix in some real branches. The arrangements look so much more realistic and it fills them out so much better than using strictly faux branches. I got these acorn branches several years ago and I love that bit of warm colour. Those are real acorns from our oak tree scattered at the base. I’ve also pulled out my candles; they create such a hygge atmosphere… when I remember to light them!
This little clay ornament is from a local potter and is a head of wheat pressed into the clay. It was supposed to be a Christmas ornament, but I thought it was much more appropriate for this time of year.
On the shelf in my room I’ve got another bouquet of faux branches mixed with real ones; this time cotton stems.
I’ve got a new collection in my seasonal box, this time a few acorns, bark and fossilized wood on a bed of moss. I like this little nature spotlight that changes with the seasons.
Amber glass is perfect for the season. I made this little fabric pumpkin with a twig for the stem and tied string around it to make it into segments.
A bit of dried baby’s breath adds a touch of Fall to the top of my dresser.

A seasonal artwork for my bedroom which I bought last year from The Bay of all places. They had a handmade market pop-up, and this artist, Jill Weston had a series of prints from across Canada. I got this one of Saskatchewan because it also reminds me of where I grew up in southern Alberta; also flat prairies! I made the frame, with my dad’s help, since a rustic, square frame suited it.
And finally, to finish it off, a cozy reading nook with a candle and lamp and pillows, and a cozy book to read…Agatha Christie’s Hallowe’en Party is the perfect choice!
