An Easter Bonnet with a Ribbon Upon It
I did not spend my Easter in the laundry room. However, I did not want to brave the cold weather for photos, so my laundry room had to serve as an impromptu photo studio for my Easter Sunday outfit this year! It actually worked surprisingly well, though, so you might just see more of this location in future posts, especially since I refuse to take any more photos out in the snow.
Anyways, regarding the outfit, which is probably what you want to hear more of, (though I could keep talking about the laundry room if you’d like. . .) I like to wear an “Easter bonnet” each year. Actually I like to wear them every other day of the year too, but on Easter it just seems more appropriate to wear your most outrageous hat, don’t you think?
This navy blue tulle 1960’s pillbox with a random blue ribbon decoration, won for this year’s outfit. It is my most ridiculous hat, and it is all the better because it only cost $1 from a thrift store. (Some people might say that $1 was too much…) It was as flat as a pancake when I found it, and required steaming it back into shape, but I’m so glad I got it because it’s the most hilarious hat I’ve ever worn, it vaguely resembles a cake, and every time I wear it, I love it all the more, simply because it is so over-the-top.
I did originally want to wear a new (much less ridiculous) hat I bought last week, and a sundress, but this year Easter came early and Spring has come late and so, instead of sunshine and flowers, we were dealing with snowstorms and bitter winds. Thus, that outfit will have to wait until the weather warms up a bit more. And so for Easter Sunday, this was my “It’s still Winter out there so I am wearing this navy dress, but I have put a lace jacket over top to make it feel a bit more like Spring is on the way” outfit.
I really don’t have much else to say, so that’s all for now- I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Hi, Nicole! It’s a beautiful outfit, hat included. It all looks good on you. Your laundry room serves as a good background for photo shoots. We hardly saw snow this year. Just lots of rain and wind.

Thank-you so much for your lovely comment Annabelle!
I hope that you are over your rain and wind and into more pleasant weather now 🙂

Great outfit! I love the lace jacket, and I don’t think the hat is crazy at all! Of course, sometimes things look a bit more “in your face” in person than they do in photographs. The tulle is really pretty, it’s a great find for only $1.

Heehee- this hat is a bit “in your face” in person, or at least it seems to me. But I love to wear it because of that 🙂 Thanks for your lovely comment, Jessica!

Easter elegance—I like the rigorous simplicity of your combination of dark navy and off white. Did you get many compliments at church? I love it when I see women wearing hats to church for Easter. It feels so festive.

Thank-you so much!
It does seem especially festive to wear hats at Easter, I agree. And yes, I did get a few compliments at church- as well as all your lovely comments here on the blog ❤️

It is a ridiculous hat in the best possible way! I would say a dollar very well spent 🙂

Thanks! I agree- the 1960’s had some real gems, didn’t it? 😉

I’m drooling over that lace jacket! Where did you get it?
The hat is fab! I agree…when something is totally outrageous it becomes even more attractive and fun to wear. Fashion should always be fun. People need to lighten up a bit. Humour is good even in fashion.
I love the pose you chose for this on the chair and the fact that you took the photos in your laundry room. Ha! Brilliant ingenuity on your part.
I’m totally stealing that pose in the future.

Thank-you Suzanne!
I got the jacket a few years ago at a boutique I worked at (it would be safe to say that much of my paycheque was spent there. . . ) I think the brand was Champagne and Strawberries or something like that. I cut the tag out, so I’m not 100% sure.
I’m glad you liked the pose and are going to try it out yourself! I have a few vintage Vogue magazines/ books, and I like to look through them for inspiration on poses- especially from the 40’s-60’s where they were always doing these very avant garde covers.

Super hat! That was a great find. I love a good 1960’s hat!

Thanks! They sure did have fun with hats in the 1960’s, didn’t they? I saw one on the weekend while visiting an antique shop that was shaped like a bucket hat, and was completely covered in fake flowers! 🙂

Nicole, I love the outfit. The hat is lovely.
