An Outfit For A Rather Windblown Autumn Day
Well, that turned into an unexpectedly long absence. I didn’t intend to take two weeks off, but here I am again! A few things have changed since my last post, two weeks ago. I have moved and am now settled into my new home… I have turned another year older… The leaves are mostly gone now, and it has tried to snow several times… and I’m sure there are other things, but I can’t think of any others. 🙂
Anyways, here I am today with an outfit post- I have been itching to get some Fall outfit photos for the blog, but seriously every time I try, something goes wrong- mainly the weather not cooperating. For someone whose favourite season is Autumn, it has not been a very good one, so far. We’ve only had a few pleasant days, and many bitterly cold ones. Finally my sister and I were able to go out last weekend (on my birthday) for some outfit photos. As the title suggests, it was very windy the day these were taken. And cold. And raining. And trying to snow. But- we persevered and I finally got my Fall photos- although they are nothing like the cheery photos from last year!
This year, my seasonal “uniform” is this coat, I think. You never get to see my autumnal hued outfit underneath, because it is too cold to not wear a coat. At least I do have a vintage styled coat- and scarves always make everything a bit more cozy, right?
Actually, this outfit is full of my favourite seasonal “must haves”:
1. Trenchcoat– keeps you warm and dry whatever the weather is trying to do.
2. Scarf– preferably a big, soft and cozy one!
3. Tights– got to keep warm!
4. Cognac coloured leather– warm tones are always nice for this season.
5. Brogues/ Oxfords– something about this style of shoe seems especially appropriate to autumn, doesn’t it?
Some of my other falltime favourites would be: my dresses made of rayon and wool fabrics, anything in mustard yellow, boots, cardigans and a beret.
Any combination of these items and you are sure to have a fairly autumnal themed ensemble 🙂
Well, I’ll stop rambling now. I hope your Fall (or Spring!) season has been a lovely one wherever you are, and that it has been infinitely better (weather wise) than mine has.
Do you like dressing for Falltime? What are some of your seasonal staples?

Your outfit is lovely. The photos are beautiful. Glad that you had nice Autumn weather,. Here in new York we have had a warm and un-Autumn like weather in October.

As I read this comment- it is raining and the wind is raging outside- so I don’t know if we’ve really had nice weather 🙂 But, we’ve had some lovely fall colour! I hope you get some lovely fall weather soon and thanks for your comment Marilyn!

Beautiful Autumnal photos! I’m currently on the hunt for a big and cozy knitted scarf in a lovely mustard colour. I remember seeing them everywhere last year but stupidly didn’t buy one. Perhaps I’ll have to crochet myself one with huge chunky wool! xx

I know- mustard yellow was the colour of the season the last few years, and this year I have seen hardly any! It’s my favourite autumn colour. You should definitely make yourself a lovely, warm scarf 🙂

Well I must say I’m a tad envious that your autumn so far is too cold not to wear a coat, as we’ve been plunged back into summer (for the UK) temperatures this week. I really want to wear all my nice coats but at the same time I know that once autumn hits, it won’t be cold and crisp, it will be wet and windy!
Lovely photos, I do like how you accessorised your coat with the bright cheery scarf.

Well, we’ve certainly got the wet and windy weather too! (It’s raining and the wind is blowing as I type this) Thank-you and I hope you get a chance to enjoy all your lovely coats this season 🙂

In California, Fall was a lengthy extension of summer, but now that we live in Utah, I am already wearing the clothes I would have worn in the winter in California. I love seeing the vivid colors of the foliage here, and try to echo them in my scarves in shades of brown and gold and rust worn over layered dark clothing. I’ve got to get sewing some more wool! Congratulations on your successful move. Happy autumn!

It must be strange going from from such a warm climate to a new one with four distinct seasons! Falltime is the such a colourful season, and I love to echo it in the colours I wear too. I look forward to seeing all your new projects made of more winter appropriate materials 🙂

That scarf against the fall leaves is absolutely stunning!

Thanks! I love deep yellows, and so when choosing what to wear for some Fall photos, I knew that I had to echo the leaves in my outfit in some way- so a scarf it was 🙂

Lovely autumn photos. Those leaves are so pretty.bit has been weirdly warm here so I haven’t needed a coat or scarf yet. I tried wearing my newly knitted beret last week but my head was too hot!

Thanks! And, well, I would hope for your sake that it gets cold enough to wear your woollens soon- but I don’t know if cold weather is something you’d want me to wish for 😉
