Hello and happy December, Dear Readers! Can you believe we are already in the last month of 2025? Where did the year go? I have no idea, but here is what I have been up to lately…

First up; getting my Christmas cards in the mail! These fox holiday stamps are so cute, aren’t they?

Loving:

We got both frost and snow last week. It’s always so beautiful and I love how the fresh white snow brightens everything.   

Working on:

The snow is putting me in the mood for Christmas, so I have been decorating. I never really feel like decorating when there isn’t snow outside. I will do a post soon sharing how I have decorated my space this year.

Listening To:

I heard this version of What Child is This by Johannes Bornlöf in a YouTube video recently, as background music. I just had to know what it was, and when I searched “What Child is This Youtube music”, it came up as the first result, so I guess I wasn’t the only person who wanted to know!

Making:

Christmas gifts…which I can’t share here since friends and family who read this blog will see them! So, in other news, I recently mended my black gloves. After I finished that, I decided to add lace to the cuff to cover up the grey lining, since I don’t wear grey and it was clashing with all of my brown outfits. It turned out surprisingly well and I should have done it years ago.

Reading:

Not really a book to put you in the Christmas mood (more the Halloween mood!), but I have started Dracula. I have never read it, but one of my friends recommended it to me recently and, though I am only a few chapters in, I am quite engrossed in it already. Although it really doesn’t make the best bedtime story as I found out the hard way!

Eating:

It’s time for Christmas baking! I haven’t done any yet, but Christmas cake and tarts and truffles are calling my name… This is the recipe I use for truffles, in case you are now thinking about them too.

Finding: 

Time for traditions. It’s December which means it is time for the daily advent candle, readings and Scripture cards. This is a relatively new tradition, as we only started the candle last year (and the Scripture cards in 2022), but they already my favourites. Last year we read Born a Child and Yet a King by Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth, but this year we are reading Consider Jesus, also by Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth. It’s kind of nice to have two books so we can alternate each year. Not that I would remember exactly what we read last year….

One other thing to share:

Laura Mae of Lilacs and Lace recently made this Victorian reproduction blouse out of embroidered tablecloths. I love how she styled it in this post too. I love the idea of upcycling linens, but (like her) I haven’t been able to bring myself to cut into them…I do have a tablecloth that has a stain on it which I am considering upcycling….maybe one day I will get around to it!
