This & That | June 9
Hello Dear Readers, and happy Monday! Here is some of what I have been up to for the past month….
My sister gave me these beautiful striped double tulips, above, and they opened up so beautifully, I was inspired to purchase some tulip bulbs from Breck’s and am going to plant them this fall.
My mom accidentally cut this flowering branch off of the plum tree, so she brought it in for a bouquet. It looked so sculptural and filled the house with the most delightful scent!
We had some ladies from our church over to do some colour draping for them. Here is all the fabric we used! A fabric stash comes in handy for times like these.
And then, I laid out all of my best colours again and took a picture to keep on my phone for reference when shopping.
I made some more fabric covered button magnets for my bulletin board. They are very easy to make, and a trick for making perfect covered buttons, by the way, is to slightly dampen the fabric. This makes it stretch just a tiny bit and stay in place while you snap the back on.
Even though the bouquets only last about one day, no matter what tips and tricks I try to get them to last longer, lilacs are still worth cutting and bringing inside!
I tried out this gift wrapping technique I’ve seen, where you fold the paper into pockets on the front of the gift. These were all books- paired with bookmarks and a packet of tea, for the perfect cozy treat!
I can’t believe we are already over a week into June…how time flies! What have you been up to lately?
