Vintage Covers: Vogue Italia 1967, Swingin’ Summer
As the end of August approaches, thoughts may begin to turn to Fall, but we’d rather embrace these late Summer days in style with vibrant colours, bold patterns and, of course, some bright blue eyeshadow.
Inspiration for this one comes from this vintage 1967 cover featuring Twiggy. Interestingly, when I was layering the photos to make sure I had everything lined up in the correct place in the image, I discovered that we have almost the exact same eye shape! This was a fun cover to do – 60’s makeup is so wild isn’t it?

Very cool the way you did that! How long did it take you to do your eyes? And how long to, um, clean them up afterward?

Thanks! 🖤 It took about 1/2 hour to do the makeup I think. My false eyelashes didn’t want to stay on (the glue was too dried out) so I did end up having to do some photoshop to the top lashes to look like Twiggy.
Washing up was relatively quick since I have a microfibre facecloth which removes the majority of the makeup!

This was my first cover of yours where I went in actually knowing what you were doing. Before, I thought those were legitimate magazine covers from back in the day. Then I caught sight of the little mole below your mouth and saw it again on another cover and connected the dots–or should I say moles?—and, slow me, finally got what was going on. Such a great idea–and so well done on your part. You’ve an amazing creative mind, you!
